Government Launches a Program that Targets Women who Smoke

Parliamentary Secretary for Health and Ageing, Christopher Pyne launched a $4.3 million program - Smoking in Pregnancy Lifescript. It is a program that runs for three years and it targets pregnant women who continue to smoke during their pregnancy.

This program is aimed at indigenous women because it has been found that they spoke three times more than other Australian women. An earlier AIHW report found that more than half of indigenous women smoke while pregnant.
