It is not often that women who live in the rural areas of Australia are mentioned in the news but they should be. Today while I was flicking through the news online I found a headline that certainly caught my eye.
Rural Women celebrated in Western QLD.
Rural women across central west Queensland have gathered early to celebrate World Rural Women's Day. They gathered today to celebrate in Longreach. Today the Department of Primary Industries hosted a forum using the theme “Rural Women – Leaders of Tomorrow” a perfect name for women who will become the leaders of in rural communities.
Quite often rural women are forgotten and many associate rural businesses to men. But not all men run businesses; rural women have a lot to do with the running of many properties on a daily basis.
The keynote speaker was the executive director of her family's sugar business, the Heck Group – Karen Heck.
On Sunday 15 th October, I hope everyone remembers and celebrates World Rural Women's Day.
